Full steam ahead for Hong Kong's music and entertainment scene with Clockenflap and much more!
By HK Lawyer AJ Halkes Barrister-at-Law
Despite the loss of the HITEC venue, the city is set to thrive. Clockenflap this weekend is expected to welcome 30,000 people to enjoy amazing performances, and Coldplay sold out all nights : so another got added. With more events scheduled, it’s clear Hong Kong is making a strong comeback on the global entertainment stage.
The age-old decision to restrict the use of our major Hong Kong Stadium for anything other than rugby sevens (and that no more) was a major missed opportunity. In a city lacking large-scale event venues, this was a sad misstep for a massive outdoor venue.
Hopefully, we can now move past the objections of a few and embrace a future where sound control and entertainment coexist.
Hong Kong deserves to thrive as a world-class events hub, and our new purpose-built facilities should also help fill the gap.
Let’s make sure the city’s potential is now fully realized .. rock on!
