A graphic echo of the snake in my Chinese New Year bike ride - Greetings to you all!
By HK Lawyer AJ Halkes Barrister-at-Law
I hope the Chinese New Year brings significant improvements for everyone – from reducing tension to building a more stable, vibrant, and viable home and life, wherever we are.
Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but there’s no reason to be too pessimistic. The economic situation in Hong Kong continues to stabilise. Enquiries from people looking to set up businesses, move here, or expand existing ventures suggest we’re moving again. After a long period of struggle, with some major uncertainties now removed, we can focus on the task before us – “right here, right now”.
One thing I’m sure of: prioritising physical health benefits us all, and it directly transfers to better work output. I’m not saying you need to push your heart rate as high as I did on that climb – but get out into the countryside, stay active in whatever way works for you.
More important still – do as I did during that ride: take a couple of stops along the way, grab a coffee (and cake!), reflect, and appreciate how fortunate we are as we plan our next phase.
Wishing everyone a year of progress, movement, and good health.
