Casa 218 on Gloucester Road had its opening party on Thursday; what a journey it has been. Hats off to the team!
By HK Lawyer AJ Halkes Barrister-at-Law
This opening showed classic Hong Kong spirit and can-do determination plus commitment from the owners and everyone involved to make it happen.
It’s always a privilege to play even a small part in launching a new F&B business here and seeing people create something with passion. And right now, openings are happening across the city. Nearly five new food and beverage businesses are opening every day, if the data is accurate. That is a lot of challenges to be met, fresh ideas, new concepts, and some serious investment being made in Hong Kong.
It was encouraging to work with the Casa 218 team and watch their dedication in action as they took on board my suggestions on licensing and regulatory challenges. Once we had figured out how to get the doors open, which took a while, they did the rest to make sure the space was re-built and ready to welcome their guests.
If you are near the Causeway Bay end of Gloucester Road any time soon, drop by and say hello. There is always going to be a warm smile waiting from Mary Jane and her team.
