Is it worth moving to live near to a members club in Hong Kong to enjoy community and amenities without the hefty management fees of a luxury residential block?

Reading a piece in the FT Weekend got me thinking about this idea.

Many years ago, while living on Shu Fai Terrace, I had the option to upgrade to a larger apartment, doubling living space and doubling my rent. But instead, I chose something more rewarding: a yacht club membership and extra free budget for dining out and experiences.

Turns out, it was a much better investment. For less than the extra cost of the bigger apartment, I enjoyed world-class facilities for me and my growing family: squash courts, a gym, a pool and food, including rare (in Hong Kong) alfresco dining. Plus, being a member of a social club comes with a whole host of community positives and activities be it sailing, soccer or just “recreation”.

Hong Kong rental costs are on the rise as our in-bound numbers increase, so clubs around Hong Kong, paired with nearby residential options (or a short cab ride away) offer luxury living without the need for a expensive empty home space. If you’re looking to enjoy premium amenities in Hong Kong while saving on rent, this may be the perfect Hong Kong real estate solution for you!

A modest apartment and a nearby high quality club with facilities that meet your hobbies or needs as against a high-end apartment with high costs : has real attraction.
