The government has imposed standards on protective netting around occupied residential properties

The government has imposed standards on protective netting around occupied residential properties, yet it appears buildings under construction are not subject to the same requirements. It seems a specific fire safety standard does not apply to the netting shown in the photograph; please let me know if I’m wrong.

The government will likely move toward a phased adoption of higher standards. When a construction site sits in proximity to residential buildings, there is a good reason fire precautions should apply, especially in the unlikely event of a fire spreading. The potential adverse impact is also amplified by the density and urban form of Hong Kong.

De-risking like that should not wait too long, and any extra costs would apparently be justified.
