People just don’t care enough about bicycles in Hong Kong
By HK Lawyer AJ Halkes Barrister-at-Law
People just don’t care enough about bicycles. But they can be recycled by a social enterprise, so why do we just scrap them? We could even raid them for parts.
If anyone wants to connect the dots and do the work, we could put together a youth program, even enlist older people who know how to do basic repairs and maintenance to teach. We could be refurbishing the bicycle seizures, not crushing them, creating work, educating and providing purpose; to put more people on two wheels.
Why not recycle some cycles instead of endlessly scrapping them?
It needs a few volunteers, some space and minimal funding and off we can go, because hundreds of seized bicycles and parts aren’t beyond use and repair.
