Some sights in Hong Kong slip away, and you forget about them. Given the ever-changing landscape, you even expect them to be gone the next time you look.
But the Boston Steakhouse in Wan Chai is a survivor.
It’s been a long time since I ate there, so I took some friends for dinner tonight and had what can only be described as a heritage experience. Sadly, the wonderful apple pies are no longer. On enquiring of the staff why that is the case, I was told that the makers just became too old and retired. One more taste of the city lost?
In a Hong Kong of endless progress, reinvention and rebuilding, just to see something that’s been here longer than I have now becomes increasingly rare.
But the Boston Restaurant marches on.
